Human Capital

The power of each proactive individual is the driving force that shapes our future.

Amid a rapidly changing era, what we most need is the power of "each individual" to support the sustainable development of AFF industries and regional communities. The willingness of each individual to think, learn, and proactively take on challenges is the driving force that propels us in our mission.

At the Bank, we support employees to take initiative in developing their careers and cultivating a high level of expertise through various HR systems, including the Job Group System. In doing so, we develop professionals who can thrive both inside and outside the organization, while also building the talent base needed to execute our business strategy.

In addition, flextime and other effective working styles as well as a supportive corporate culture are also essential for employees to perform at their best.

Having worked while raising children myself, I have come to realize that the workplace environment plays an important role in motivating employees, and I believe that, as these efforts accumulate, they will lead to a greater impact on society.

We will continue to actively develop an environment in which everyone can freely take on new challenges under an open and communicative corporate culture.

The Norinchukin Bank’s Human Capital Management

Diagram showing the overall picture of The Norinchukin Bank’s human capital management. From left to right, it consists of the Human Resources Management Policy, the Human Resources Portfolio Strategy, and the foundation supporting human capital. The Human Resources Management Policy provides ongoing support for employees who, with a commitment to contributing to primary industries and local communities, continue to challenge themselves and drive change autonomously as financial professionals. The goals under this policy are to build a professional organization whose members contribute both within and outside the Bank under its Purpose, and to enable autonomous career development that reflects diversity. The Human Resources Portfolio Strategy visualizes the groups of employees with the careers, expertise, and other capabilities required to implement business strategies, and implements the necessary measures and optimal assignments to develop those groups. It includes the formation of specialized and diverse employee groups aligned with business areas and the job group system, covering food and agriculture, retail, investment, corporate functions, and cross-functional roles. The development and operation of the human resources portfolio include personnel systems, recruitment, and talent development. The diagram shows a cycle of visualizing the human resources needed, identifying gaps, appropriately allocating resources in line with business strategies, and closing those gaps. The business strategies and medium-term vision for realizing the Purpose include creating impact on the global environment, society, and the economy; supporting the sustainable development of agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and local communities; creating value for members and users through the optimal integration of digital and physical channels; delivering stable returns and functions to members; and realizing a flexible and resilient organization that continues to embrace change. The foundation supporting human capital involves establishing and operating personnel systems and initiatives that form the basis of human capital management, including enhancing employee engagement, encouraging challenges, promoting well-being, and embedding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I).
